As I was playing with my daughter Scarlett, I started to think about her birth. It was a pretty smooth experience, but not painless. To receive such a gift from the Lord, I had to work for it. I also felt the pain because Adam and Eve sinned in the garden. I feel joy because Christ chose to save me. I obviously wouldn’t experience the joy of my newborn with out this child-birthing pain. Pain and sin in this world can be overwhelming. I couldn’t understand His grace as deeply. I am able too see how gross my sin is, which simultaneously shows how pure and Holy Christ is. I can’t wait for the day of glorification, but until then I will rejoice under all circumstances because I am being made more like Him. I am showered with His grace every second of every day. And I did nothing to deserve such a gift.
“When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world.”
I am always trying new hairstyles on my toddler. Her hair is always in her face, and bows don’t always stay. Here is a simple style that is so cute on a little one and will stay in place!
I have always done this braid with in pony tail. It’s just a half french braid kind-of-thing. After brushing through her hair I gradually pull hair only the front to add to the braid (out of her face), and not worrying about gathering hair from the backside. I then gather hair from the other side of her head and secure them with a small ouchless band. I also do NOT worry about the bumps and “messy-ness” of the hair, I quite like that look.
Fortunately for me (and her) Scarlett’s hair does this flip naturally. Jealous. It could easily be achieved with a large barreled curling iron or a regular flat iron. I am not sure how everyone feels about hairspray and toddlers, but I spray a little on the braid. If you are wondering, I use the Not Your Mother’s Volumizing Hairspray.
Anytime I am styling her hair… Peppa Pig is necessary.
